Brian’s Funeral Mass :

What a wonderful turn out yesterday for Brian’s Funeral Mass, and so well deserved for such a brave man, who during the past year has certainly given inspiration to us all. The service, prearranged by Brian, and so beautifully carried out to the letter by his lovely family, was a joy to attend.

Delighted to announce our baby grandson eventually arrived on Friday the 9 July at 8.49pm. Like all babies, he is beautiful! And before you all say it, yes, it is a good job he does not take after this side of the family!!!!!!

Well done to the Tuesday Ladies Team on a 9-3 very welcome win. Hilary said she had never played so well, she couldn’t do anything wrong, so well done everyone, long may it continue. The Wolfreton ladies remarked on the green, saying how well it played, so thank you to the men in the work party for putting so much effort into improving the No. 2 Green.

I know we had a hot day for our Whistle Stop but I think the sun must have got to Neville, since when was the last day of June the 26th !!!!!!! Think it should read the last Sunday in June. ( ooops Nev!!!)

I don’t know what has happened with the bonus ball competition this year as it was a very good fund raiser for the Club last year with £371 brought in over the season. We are already passed £100 for this year, but I would have thought that with such a large pot to be won, after 4 rollovers, the numbers would all have been taken. Lets hope that there is more interest this week and one of our members wins it.
For those of you who are aware that we had a problem with No1 Green watering system it has been fixed and as we did not need to replace the sprinklers the cost should be considerably less than was first thought.
Hope all the outstanding matches in the internal competitions have been played as today is the last day. The next round closes on 4 August. Happy Bowling.

I dont know why but my article did not appear in either the Advertiser or the Guardian maybe next week. Thanks for the favourable comments and please spread the word that as always our Whistle Stop will be on the last day of June. Hope to see you in 2011 on the 26th for our 26th.
