Whistle Stop 2010
(Waiting for YOUR comments for each Photo!
Leave them in the Green room please).

Bowlers cheating? Never!
Video clip taken by Carl Johnson at
Potters January 2010

Members ready to enjoy this years May Bank
Holiday bowls drive in fine but breezy weather.

Birthday girl, Mary, with brother Tom.

Ladies Captain, Sally Bell. Winner of the Drive!

Margaret, Josie and John arriving at Potters to
learn about the game of Bowls and how to play!

Freda, Margaret, Josie, John and Les watching
how the professionals play. This could be worrying
if we are drawn against them in the internals!

Just knew Carl had been playing bowls for years!
The following 7 photos were taken on the first day of
the new season. 24 members braved 17c temp and no wind!
It was good to hear all the positive comments on
how well the greens were. The ladies deserve praise
for how lovely and clean the clubhouse looks.
Well done all concerned! (10.04.10)
Dennis and John hard at it. Short of hands today!
Faithful Trevor with THAT wheelbarrow again!
Gary is busy raking and it looks as though John
is on his knees praying for more help to arrive!
Newly retired Ian determined to work as hard
as he plays! Neville is here too somewhere.
.
These same members, along with Carl and Gordon, dug
this trench out last week and now they are infilling to
make it safe for the rest of us. They are taking it in turns
to wheel the barrow full of hardcore from the main entrance.
It must weigh a ton but they won’t be beaten.
Bet Trevor is grateful to have this cement mixer!
Recruitment of extra hands is on going. No specific
qualifications are required, just a willingness to
help others enjoy a summer of bowling and be
greatly appreciated by other members AND have
a break from her in doors!!
No time for a tea break today!
Bernard has obviously taken note of Hilary icing cakes!
Still working! If you wonder why Neville has not
got dirty hands it is because he has just stopped off
from doing his voluntary work with Beverley Community Lift
to offer support. Hopefully you will have another
pair of hands next week boys.
The following 10 ‘photos were taken on 31.01.2010
at Hornsea Indoor Bowling Club. We really missed our
absent friends. Some were having a MOT (hope
there is not a long wait for spare parts) while others
were cruising in the Med. Look what you missed!
This is the only time you will get a cold welcome!
Can any one see the Jack?
Aww. What it is like to be young! This is Bernard
and Hilary’s 12 year old grand-daughter Katie with Rory
the Tiger sporting a Hull City scarf. Just look at the detail.
Surely living in Tadcaster Katie you should support Leeds!
Ho! Ho! Ho! Quiz Master Tom Anderson who kept
us in fits of laughter.
Captain Bernard, Hilary and Josie all looking very
Christmassy.
Very serious this quiz!
Brains of Britain at work!
Again in this ‘photo!
Look how absorbed this group is. Totally unaware
they have been caught on camera!!!!
Cheers Sheila!
I am sure that is a ‘photo of some one we know!
At least Ben has spotted me!
‘The Baby Sitters’ did not do too well even though
they had Ben and Meg’s help.
Guess the weight of the Cristmas cake – see Social page
for details. It is infact pure white icing but this image
does not do it justice. The cake was won by Mary Bevan.
(Exact weight will appear here shortly)
Who can tell me what these men are doing also,
can you name them? Answers to:

The following photographs were taken by our new
club captain, Bernard, at Hornsea Indoor Bowling
Club on 15 November 2009. Perhaps we should run a
competition and guess who is married to who?
Brian, Jean and Bob. Wonder how well they bowled
after such a large meal?
Jackie, Eric and Terry. Looks like they are waiting
for their coffee to arrive.
Les, Joan and Bess. Wonder where Brian is?
Ahh, here is Brian with his arm around Josie.
John seems happy enough!
Sally looks ready to conduct an Orchestra with the
help of Trevor …. thought you had gone indoor bowling!
John, Margaret and Carl
Pete and Stan ready for 2 hours of bowling.
Neville looking adoringly at his wife Barbara
and Joan
Ah ah very funny! Just wait until you do have a
double chin to hide!!!!!
Newly elected Club Captain (Bernard Smith)
with Gordon and Shirley seated.
Gordon looking very thoughtful. Nice pose.
Now we know who Maggie got the idea from to
hide extra chins!
Hang on, are they nicking our seats?
Oh I forgot. These members come every Tuesday
and Thursday during the closed season to do jobs
like this. Here we have Trevor Clark, Gordon Foster
Bernard Smith, Carl Johnson and John Hardman
This is where they store them for the winter months
to protect them. Looks like John is over seeing
this task very well.
Here is Gordon waiting for another pair of hands
to help him push the trailer back
to the Green to collect another seat.
